It all started about 4 years ago when I went to the J&M Café one night and at the end of the night I was in desperate need of some late night street food and there was a hotdog stand next door. So I stood in line to wait my turn.
Once I got the front I started flirting with the cute employee to see if I could get a free hotdog from him. I ended up with a free hotdog and also gave the employee my phone number and the rest is history.
After a couple years of dating, Sebastian (aka Said) suggested opening up a hotdog stand. At first I thought he was crazy but I decided to take a chance. The first hotdog stand opened was located at El Corazon and it failed miserably. Just not the right crowds for hotdogs since most of the shows there cater to all age groups.
So we then decided to give it another go and tried another location in front of the Diamond Parking lot located at 1st & Bell. This location was great and we knew this was just the beginning for us.
We then expanded and opened up at the Comet Tavern on Capitol Hill. We found great success operating at the Comet and came to be known as "Comet Dogs" even though the sign on our cart said "S&S Cream Cheese Dogs". However, due to unfortunate circumstances we had to relocate and decided to move across the street from the Comet near Havana. We figured one was not enough at 10th & Pike and also opened a cart next to Neumos.
We have now grown to 6 hotdog stands and will continue growing. |
